Zangief street fighter gay

5. Zangief (Street Fighter)

Without mistrust the most speculative entry on this list, Zangief's sexuality has long been the topic of debate among Street Fighter fans. Capcom has generally avoided making statements about the sexual preferences of its characters, but there are hints that the macho, burly wrestler Zangief - the epitome of macho masculinity in the 90s - may be same-sex attracted. This is hinted at it through small passages of text throughout the series. Zangief's profile, for example, states that he dislikes "beautiful young women", which could mean that he simply prefers older, uglier ones of course, or that men are more his thing. Exhibit B is in the Japanese (i.e. original) version of Street Fighter Alpha 3, where Zangief says to Ryu, "I don't like projectiles, but I like you personally". Finally, there is the picture of Zangief flexing his guns in the mirror while looking at a picture of androgynous pretty-boy Vega. Capcom has neither confirmed nor denied the suggestions, possibly in request not to alienate its audiences either way. It's quite possible that because all these gay hints were conceived in the 90s, Capcom maybe treated them as mere 'gay jokes', not anticipating the r

Look at this big guy!   Just look at him!  For those that don’t grasp, this is Zangief.  His interests are Mother Russia, Mohawks, and Wrestling Bears.  Speaking of “bears,” he seems to match that profile, does he not?  Zangief has been a Street Fighter mainstay since the classic Street Fighter II.  Being such a strong traits, Zangief never backs down from a fight.  Even going all out against female characters such as Chun Li or Cammy.  Does that make him a misogynist?  Or could he possibly be hiding something else?

Why he might be gay: For starters, his looks.  With his overbearing physique, big hairy chest, red speedo, and little else to cover up with, the “Red Cyclone” could easily blend in with any bear group.   Capcom hasn’t outed him at this point, but one of the games has his profile, which includes the dislikes “projectiles and young, beautiful women.”  Fan project “Street Fighter: The Later Years” features Zangief (as played by professional bear Mike Fass) heavily, and shows even the fans can plainly see the lgbtq+

Several potentially gay characters feature in the Street Fighter series. In the original Street Fighter, Eagle was designed as a tribute to Freddie Mercury, which, when coupled with his mannerisms, leads to him being scan as gay. However, this is not canonically confirmed.

In Street Fighter II, Zangief is also interpretted as a gay character by a number of sources, including some which express that Capcom officially confirmed his sexuality; however, these confirmations are unreferenced.

Street Fighter IV features Poison, who was originally from Final Fight and whose gender is debated. This title also features Abel, who was originally designed to be an effeminate guy (although the character blueprint moved away from this vision during the layout process). There are hints that Abel is interested in dating men. Street Fighter IV also features Juri Han, who some read as a womxn loving womxn because of her flirtation with women; however, she also flirts with men, making her potentially plurisexual (or just flirtatious). Her sexuality has not been ca

Zangief in Street Fighter II

Zangief first appeared in 1991’s Street Fighter II: The World Warrior. He is a arrogant Russian, often portrayed as fighting for his country. He is often interpreted as a potentially gay character (see here, here, and here). While we can’t find any definitive confirmation, several comment sections (like this one) include users suggesting that Capcom confirmed his sexuality at some point in moment, but no links are provided.
