Okay, we’re starting with Sex Education, because it is my favorite show on this list (perhaps currently on TV) and if you get nothing else from this list it should be WATCHSEX EDUCATION. The British dramedy centers on Otis (Asa Butterfield, aka the boy in Hugo), a high educational facility student who decides to make some extra cash working as a sex therapist for his fellow classmates, as his mom (played by The Crown’s ibble dibbleing Margaret Thatcher, Gillian Anderson) is an actual sex therapist. 

Better than a thousand YouTube tutorials or Cosmo articles, this show dives into all of the nooks and crannies of sex, emphasizing homosexuality, bisexuality, pansexuality, asexuality, douching, scissoring, masturbation, fellatio, crossdressing, erotica, roleplay, fetishes, vaginas with teeth, and yes, even heterosexuality (boring, I know). 8 LGBTQ+ TV Series to Watch on Netflix

Pride Month is finally here, and it is just about the right time to observe queer visibility in media. Although Netflix could be doing a lot more with queer voice, given how enormous the streaming platform is and how they present themselves to be inclusive, they still contain a lot to offer, particularly when it comes to TV series.

LGBTQ+ inclusion in TV has come a drawn-out way in the last decade. There were plenty of LGBTQ+ shows ahead of their moment in the 90s and 2000s, but the 2010s proved to be the decade during which queer stories and characters moved towards the mainstream. Indeed, LGBTQ+ TV shows are no longer considered a niche category. In reality, a GLAAD review showed that the past year alone saw a record-high representation of gay stories on the small screen.   • GLAAD counted 327 LGBTQ characters on scripted imaginative series this year, made up of 208 series regular characters and 119 recurring characters. This is a decrease of 29 characters (0.8 percent) from the previous year.
  • Of these 327 LGBTQ characters, 150 (46 percent) are men, 158 (48 percent) are women, and 19 (six percent) are nonbinary. This is a slight change toward parity from last year’s 46 percent men, 51 percent women, and three percent nonbinary characters.
  • There are once again more gay men than any other demographic on streaming, with 108 (33 percent) gay men counted here. This is a shrink of 22 characters and four percentage points.
  • There was also a decrease of lesbian characters on streaming. Of the 327 LGBTQ characters counted on streaming, 79 (24 percent) are lesbians, a decrease of 28 characters and six percentage points.
  • Bisexual+ representation slightly increased on streaming with 81 (25 percent) bi+ characters. This is a decrease of three characters, but an increase of one percentage point. Of the 81 bi+ characters, 53 are women, 24 are men, and four are nonbinary.
