In light of a lack of comparable data on the respect, protection and fulfi lment of the fundamental rights of lesbian, male lover, bisexual and gender non-conforming (LGBT) persons, the European Union Agency for Fundamental Rights (FRA) launched in 2012 its European Union (EU) online survey of LGBT persons’ experiences of discrimination, violence and harassment. The survey results provide valuable evidence of how LGBT persons in the EU and Croatia experience bias-motivated discrimination, violence and harassment in unlike areas of animation, including employment, learning, healthcare, housing and other services. The fi ndings reveal that many obscure their identity or avoid locations because of fear. Others experience discrimination and even violence for being LGBT. Most, however, do not report such incidents to the police or any other relevant authority. By highlighting and analysing the survey results, this report, together with the accompanying EU LGBT survey – Main results report, will assist the EU institutions and Member States in identifying the fundamental rights challenges facing LGBT people living in the EU and C

«Le mariage gai est un succès», dit Pierre Poilievre

(OTTAWA) Même s’il n’est pas encore officiellement candidat dans la course à la direction du Parti conservateur, le député Pierre Poilievre tient à ce que son parti tourne rapidement la page sur les questions sociales comme les mariages gais et l’avortement – des enjeux qui ont fait dérailler la campagne des conservateurs aux dernières élections.

« Je suis favorable aux mariages gais. Point closing. J’ai voté contre il y a 15 ans. Mais j’ai beaucoup appris, comme des millions et des millions de gens partout au Canada et à travers le monde. Je constate que le mariage gai est un succès. L’institution du mariage doit être ouverte à tous les citoyens, peu importe leur orientation sexuelle », affirme d’emblée le volubile député dans une entrevue à La Presse.

Et sur l’avortement, il déclare qu’un éventuel gouvernement conservateur qu’il dirigerait ne présenterait jamais un projet de loi sur cet enjeu. Mais il irait plus loin en s’assurant qu’aucun projet de moi, même privé, ne soit adopté non plus.
