Equality Florida is the state’s largest civil rights organization assigned to securing full equality for Florida’s lesbian, lgbtq+, bisexual, transgender, and gay (LGBTQ) community. We’re switching Florida through lobbying, grassroots organizing, education, and coalition building — so that no one suffers harassment or discrimination on the basis of their sexual orientation or gender self or expression.
Since our founding in 1997, we’ve turn into one of the largest statewide LGBTQ groups in the country with more than 400,000 supporters, more than 15,000 volunteers, and staff located in major Florida cities to systematize and support our work.
Framework and Position Summary:
Equality Florida consistently leads efforts to advance LGBTQ+ equality across Florida. Based on both vision and need, we are hiring a Communications Fellow to help back our critical work during a time of unprecedented attacks on LGBTQ+ Floridians.
The Communications team at Equality Florida plays a crucial role in shaping universal narrative, educating communities, and mobilizing support for Gay rights across the mention. Through strategic messaging and compelling storyt While research has been conducted on the importance of creating safe environments where LGBTQ+ students touch seen and respected (Hermann-Wilmarth & Ryan, 2019), minute research has been completed on these spaces' impact on LGBTQ+-headed families. Awareness the impact belonging has on a sense of mattering (Strayhorn, 2019), it is essential to comprehend whether LGBTQ+-headed families notice like they are a welcomed part of their child(ren)’s school communities. This study aimed to donate voice to the experiences of LGBTQ+-headed families with children in several Massachusetts Public Schools concerning their relationships with their child(ren)’s schools. By giving voice to these families, this research helped to occupy a clear gap in the literature around LGBTQ+-headed families' relationships with common schools within the Joined States.
