F

or so many people across the Gulf South, things will never be the same. In Louisiana alone, there are hundreds of billions of dollars worth of damage from hurricanes Katrina and Rita. And while some areas were hit much harder than others, all of us have been affected by these monumental storms. The damage in Fresh Orleans, the most populous city hit, stands in the forefront of the minds of so many Americans, even though many other smaller towns and cities received just as much damage. The famed Crescent City has develop not only a symbol of the destructive forces of Mother Nature, but also of the progress that can be made when people, of whatever race, creed, sexuality, religion, or socioeconomic background, rise together to make a difference.

Just six weeks ago, the vast majority of New Orleans was underwater, and people everywhere were wondering whether the city could ever recover. It is clear by now that New Orleans will not only increase again, but will be bigger and better than ever. The publication of this issue of Ambush is a perfect example of the resilience of both the city
