Lgbtq+ questioning meaning
What does the 'Q' stand for in LGBTQ+? How the community reclaimed the word.
Pride Month is almost here, so it's important to refresh your facts on the flags, terms, identities and history encompassed in the LGBTQ+ people. Asking your Diverse friends and family is an option but be mindful of placing the burden of your education on others when there are many free resources at your disposal.
Here's what you need to perceive about the letter "Q" in the acronym.
What does the 'Q' in Queer stand for?
The Q in LGBTQ+ stands for queer in most settings, but it can also imply questioning. LGBTQ+ is an acronym of identities related to sexual orientation and gender identity.

PUTTING THE Q IN LGBTQ+
Questioning. Something which we all do daily. What’s for dinner tonight? What bus should I take to school? What am I going to wear tomorrow? But what do we do when we meet the questions: WHAT IS MY SEXUALITY? WHAT IS MY GENDER? AM I A VALID MEMBER OF THE LGBTQ+ COMMUNITY IF I AM… questioning?
What it means to be questioning
Questioning describes people who are unsure or exploring their sexual orientation or gender identity. This process of figuring out who you really are can be exhilarating, but it can also be a daunting time that may surface feelings of anxiety or insecurity.
Labels
It is okay not to acquire a label to portray your identity or sexual orientation, but it can be challenging not having a word to inform others who you are. We have words for everything! Yet, when it comes to labelling yourself, it can seem an impossible task, especially when everyone else around you appears to have it all figured out, right? Where do I fit if I’m not queer , not straight, not bi or pansexual?
Questioning. Is this a label? Yes.
Will people understand me? Not necessarily.
Will people ask me lots of questions if I explain them? Maybe.

What Does LGBTQIA+ Mean?
For many years, the umbrella term “gay” was used to describe the community.
Now, many people worry about how to come out, but coming out before the 1970s wasn’t even an option, as many states illegalized what they called “homosexuality” or “sodomy.” There was also no acronym at all, restricting the inclusivity of our community.
Once an acronym appeared, all versions of it began with “L” – for an important reason.
In the early days of the gay rights movement, the lesbian community often felt dismissed or
